The spread of COVID-19 has caused panic in financial and commodity markets on an unprecedented scale with GDP and fiscal impacts not seen outside of world wars.

The impact on risk management has been profound. Modelling assumptions have been found wanting. Risk IT and operational processes have been put under stresses unimaginable only a few months ago.

Working with our partners Numerix and PRMIA, we are delighted to invite you to join a virtual round table discussion on the topic of “Risk Management Post COVID- 19 – Lessons Learned…so far…”.

We are inviting guest speakers to join our panel session which will be moderated by Karl Sees, CubeLogic Managing Director.

Guest panel:

Danny DiPaci, Flow Trader LLC, Head of Risk Middle Office and Finance

Daniel graduated from Boston College’s Carroll School of Management in 2008 with a bachelor’s degree in Accounting and Finance. Daniel is responsible for overseeing the Finance, Risk Management, and Operations teams and processes within Flow Traders. Prior to joining Flow Traders in 2013, he held several roles in FX Operations and Prime Brokerage at UBS and Morgan Stanley.

Darko Mocelj, Microsoft, EMEA HPC & AI Sr. Technology Specialist

Darko Mocelj is seasoned technologist with a strong business orientation. His vision and aspiration is to bridge the gaps between the requirements of the Financial Services Industry and the available, latest, technologies.

Darko currently works as an HPC & AI Technology Specialist FSI for Microsoft. In his role he is supporting the digital transformation journey of Financial Services customers with a particular interest in machine learning and high-performance computing in risk and trading functions. Darko Mocelj likes to apply the newest trends in technology to current and future business problems and is passionate about learning the latest financial industry challenges and using the available technology stack to build and provide a suitable and scalable solution.

Prior to joining Microsoft, Dr. Darko Mocelj worked in different roles in the banking industry and in various consulting companies – always focusing on challenges within the Financial Services Industry. He holds a degree in Theoretical Physics and if he’s not following his interest in technology, he is spending his time dancing Argentine Tango with his wife.

James Jockle, Numerix, Executive Vice President

As Chief Marketing Officer and Executive Vice President of Global Marketing & Corporate Communications, Mr. Jockle leads Numerix’s global marketing and corporate communications efforts, spanning a diverse set of solutions and audiences. He oversees integrated marketing communications to clients in the largest global financial markets and to the Numerix partner network through the company’s branding, electronic marketing, research, events, public relations, advertising and relationship marketing.

Since joining Numerix in 2008, Mr. Jockle has launched the organization’s award-winning thought leadership program, bringing to light challenges and insights from Numerix market experts. Mr. Jockle also hosts the Numerix Video Blog to tackle the challenges pressing the derivatives markets—from regulatory issues to trading strategies.

Prior to joining Numerix, he served as Managing Director of Global Marketing and Communications for Fitch Ratings. During his tenure at Fitch, Mr. Jockle built the firm’s public relations program, oversaw investor relations and led marketing and communications plans for several acquisitions. Prior to Fitch, Mr. Jockle was a member of the communications team at Moody’s Investors Service.

Saadia Mujeeb, PRMIA (Professional Risk Managers International Association)

Accomplished leader of cross-functional global teams with international experience living and working in US, UK and Middle East with UK and US Investment Banks. The Senior Risk Approver for structured transactions, Saadia’s remit also covers assessment of new business initiatives for Markets, Structured Lending Franchise and Sustainable Finance products. Expertise and track record of successes in managing clients in distress and leading teams during uncertainty (2007/2008 credit crisis, 2015 EUR-CHF peg break, Covid-19) ensuring zero credit risk losses on each occasion. Experience includes Sales & Marketing – leading the delivery of e-banking cash management and treasury product offerings to Corporate Clients in the Gulf.

Saadia is passionate about investing in others and is a strong advocate for the broader inclusion and diversity agenda. Saadia holds an MBA from London Business School.

Tom Wootton, Credit Suisse, Chief Credit Officer

Tom Wootton is Head of Credit Risk Management Credit Suisse International, with responsibility to manage credit risk appetite for UK and EMEA based counterparties. Tom joined from Standard Chartered where he was Global Head of Liquidity Risk and IRRBB, based in London. Prior to Standard Chartered, Tom held a number of positions at Barclays Capital, including Chief Credit Officer US and Chief Credit Officer EMEA.
